Arbitrum Allocates 225 Million ARB Tokens to Enhance Gaming Sector

The Arbitrum DAO has approved a significant funding initiative worth $222 million to expand its gaming ecosystem. The investment aims to increase user engagement across the Arbitrum, Orbit, and Stylus gaming platforms. This decision comes amidst substantial network growth, with a 30% rise in daily active addresses, indicating increased community adoption.

On June 7, the Arbitrum community approved a proposal to allocate resources from the Arbitrum Foundation to enhance the gaming ecosystem. The initiative will distribute 225 million ARB tokens, valued at approximately $222 million, over three years through the newly established Gaming Catalyst Program (GCP). The GCP seeks to stimulate user engagement across the Arbitrum, Orbit, and Stylus gaming communities.

The GCP will be managed by a dedicated team, overseen by a five-member council of experts in gaming, venture capital, data analysis, and DAO governance. The team's operational budget is capped at $25 million, with any additional expenses requiring DAO approval. The proposal states, "The GCP Council will be a DAO-elected group of trusted professionals with backgrounds ranging across gaming, venture, grant allocation, web3 technology, and DAO relations. The group functions as a braintrust that offers their accumulated knowledge to empower the GCP Core Team."

The majority of the funds are allocated for publishers, while new and early-stage developers can apply for grants of up to 500,000 ARB. Established developers seeking funding must include value-sharing components such as tokens or equity in their investment proposals. The remaining funds will be used to support infrastructure-related bounties and operational costs.

According to data from Growthepie, the Arbitrum network has experienced a significant surge in activity over the past month, with a 30% increase in daily active addresses, reaching 710,000. This growth positions Arbitrum ahead of other layer-2 networks in terms of user activity. DeFiLlama data confirms that Arbitrum is currently the largest Ethereum Layer 2 solution, dominating the market with a total value locked (TVL) exceeding $4 billion.
